What we do.

St John's and Hands at Work in Africa.

St John's has a Partnership, through Hands at Work in Africa, with a community called Msengeni in Eswatini, formerly called Swaziland. This began after a visit to south Africa in 2004, and is done in a spirit of servanthood rather than of charity.

Hands at Work now has many Community Based Organizations in eight African countries, where we have looked for people, mostly orphaned and vulnerable children, with the greatest need and the least resources ~ The poorest of the poor. We help them to deliver the Three Essential Services by enabling and encouraging local African volunteers.

Hands' Vision is:

'the local Church in Africa effectively caring for the orphaned, the widowed and the dying, and unified in this mission with the Church outside Africa.'

In this 'Partnership' our church has committed to Advocate, Pray, Give and Visit. We get to know the Primary Care Givers and volunteers by name, receiving frequent updates and reports, and sharing regular prayer points with our congregation. We receive as much as we give. We are privileged to have this relationship, and the knowledge of the difference that is made. Find out more from Hands' website.
